Jethro Tull 2026
With Ian Anderson, always at the center, this tour spans the seven decades during which Jethro Tull have written and performed music. With their 23 studio albums, they have continuously pushed the boundaries of their sound. Ian’s unique and iconic flute playing, paired with his unmistakable voice, have made them one of the most important and distinctive bands Britain has ever produced. And Ian’s relentless drive for constant innovation has ensured that they remain just as relevant worldwide today as they were in the seventies.
Announcing the concerts, Ian Anderson, founding member of the band, said: “We will be playing songs from all seven decades of Jethro Tull albums. Learning and rehearsing some half-forgotten pieces from our catalogue feels like meeting up with old friends after a long silence. Yes – they’ve aged, but after a few run-throughs and a couple of beers, the years simply melt away.
We hope to see you at the shows – and don’t forget to bring a handkerchief for the teary-eyed nostalgic moments. Or to wipe away the flute spit if you’re in the front row. Apologies in advance!”
Jethro Tull were formed in 1968 and released that same year the already mentioned blues-influenced album This Was. The following year saw the release of Stand Up, a more homegrown and eclectic album that marked the beginning of the band’s unique journey, soon gaining worldwide recognition for their experimental sound that shattered musical boundaries.
By the mid-seventies, and after a series of line-up changes, Ian Anderson remained the focal point and driving force of the band. He further developed their sound and live performances, propelling them to worldwide fame alongside the likes of Led Zeppelin, Elton John, and the Rolling Stones.
Seven decades later, they have sold over 60 million albums, built a huge global fanbase, and released more than 30 studio and live albums… but much remains the same! With Ian at the helm, the band’s hunger for creativity and experimentation is as strong as ever – and still evolving.
